近日美國醫學會年度會議在芝加哥召開，在會上美國醫學會提議禁止向18歲以下孩子銷售能量飲料，同時將含糖飲料從營養援助計劃（SNAP）項目中移除。
然而美國飲料協會（ABA）認為，美國醫學會稱咖啡飲料含有"過多咖啡因"的說法蠱惑人心，因為大多數能量飲料在咖啡因含量方面僅相當于咖啡館提供的小杯咖啡。
